Once considered a “sleepy little suburb” this west Toronto city, is wide-awake, with a population of over 500,000 and is suddenly Canada’s ninth-largest city, not far behind Vancouver.
Brampton is being studied and talked about amongst, economists, politicians, urban planners and sociologist alike, this city is the model of how new demographic trends are reshaping Canada.
My own family reflects the old and new Brampton. My husband David was born in what was formerly ‘Toronto Gore” over 40-something years ago. The son of Italian immigrants, his family moved here from “Little Italy” in Toronto, in search for more land. And that they found with 10-acres in east Brampton, as a boy he raised geese and other animals on their hobby farm, and also helped custom build his “Zio’s” house in Castlemore (where Zio still lives). The hobby farm is now gone, and new development now surrounds his former childhood home.
I am newer to Brampton, but we choose to keep our young family here. I found Brampton to be an excellent community for children and for families. While driving, it even seems like there’s a recreation centre every five minutes! Peel Region and the city of Brampton, have excellent resources for both families and children.
For me, you get the best of many worlds, the homely feel of the suburbs, access to the major amenities, new roads, clean streets, and in many neighborhoods walking distance to nature, trails, conservation lands., lakes, rivers and even the beach! In fact I have on more than one occasion, seen wild turkey, foxes, deer, swans, goose, not to mention, blue jays and cardinals, all within my neighborhood.
Brampton is an excellent choice for the first time home buyer, because you can still get a great size property at an excellent price range, especially in today’s “bubbly” market. It is also an excellent choice for investment property, your investment dollars can go a long way here. There are few areas left surrounding the GTA where you can get a large lot in the $300k and $400k range. Brampton has a great mix of re-sale homes, as well as newer homes and now condo’s.
I know the many neighborhoods in Brampton, and will diligently guide you through your selling and/or your buying process.
